Dance Awa is dance of Provinsi Awa ( Prefektur Tokushima), Japan danced in troops in various towns and countryside in Prefektur Tokushima to greet celebration Obon. Every year date of 12-15 Augusts, dance Awa is passed off in the middle of town Tokushima.
Dancer Awa dances in batches so-called ren parading in taking the air. One group of dancer can be consisted of lusinan dancer. Dance Awa is conspecific of Bon Odori. Woman dancer dances with position of vertical body and hand moved about above head. Man dances with hip is lowered, and dynamic gesticulating and foot.
Attendant music applies castanets consisted of by shamisen, percussion ( taiko and tsuzumi), genta ( kane), and flute ( yokobue). Song played is hit song from epoch Edo is entitling " Yoshikono". The lyric is invitation to audience to partake dances, " Erai yatcha, erai yatcha, yoi yoi yoi yoi, odoru ah? nickel miru ah?, onaji ah? person odorana son son." Song " Yoshikono" only applied to accompany group of dance Awa which is famous, while group of dancing other Awa dances by accompanied [by] exclamation " Yatto sulfur? Yatto sa?".
Besides demonstrated in Prefektur Tokushima, group of dance Awa of Tokushima often circles in big towns in Japan ( especially in region Kanto). In my Suginami district, Tokyo, dance Awa is carried out by temple with shopping centre in nearness.
